Now this is a real beauty. Bare metal restored 1971 XY Fairmont Y code 302 V8 and T-Bar Automatic now running a 351 2V Cleveland and 9" diff with all GS Rallye Pack options fitted. A classic Fairmont with GT running gear beautifully presented and a dream to drive. For sale from our Sydney Showroom.

Recently there has been a real revival in Ford enthusiasts presenting lovely old Falcons and Fairmonts as their manufacturer built them rather than creating yet another replica GT. Here we have for sale an elegant Nugget Gold with Saddle trim XY Fairmont originally built by Ford as a 302 V8 and T-Bar automatic which has been fully restored and mildly upgraded with the addition of a full GS Rally Pack option kit. In addition, the original driveline has been upgraded with a 2V 351 Cleveland and 9" diff while preserving the original 3 speed T-Bar automatic gearbox.

Originally sold through Fairway Ford in Adelaide, the XY was purchased by the second owner in 2013 and underwent a 7 year back to bare metal restoration before being purchased by the current owner in 2020. Having searched the country for a really good rust and damage free body, the owner lavished the Fairmont with a full bare metal restoration including a 2 Pack repaint in Nugget Gold. All chrome and stainless was restored and all glass except for the front windscreen is original.

Plant yourself in the drivers seat and that beautiful fully appointed GS dash with 8,000 rpm tacho, 140 mph speedo and GS steering wheel fall into reach. You'd have to agree that this is an XY that ticks all the boxes. With new Saddle seat coverings, door cards, crash pad, hood lining and carpeting this is a very nice place to be. There are also 5 new saddle seat belts installed. All gauges work as does the rim blow steering wheel and the original Superfringe radio is installed.

Mechanically, the XY runs a fully rebuilt 351 2V Cleveland, Holley 650 Vac Sec and extractors through to a dual 2 1/2" exhaust. The gearbox is a rebuilt C4 and the XY is running a rebuilt 3.25:1 9" LSD diff. The Fairmont has covered a genuine 1,879 miles since the restoration was completed.

Riding on original 14" steel rims with excellent GS hubcaps and new red walled tyres. In the boot is a matching spare with factory tool bag and tools. The XY is also fitted with GT style bonnet locking pins, working driving lights, bumper over riders, rear mud flaps and rear venetian. Supplied with a letter from Ford confirming the build specifications plus an Owners Manual and two sets of keys.

With so many replicas on the road its nice to see a classic XY preserved in near to original condition with modifications that will greatly enhance the ownership experience. A delight to drive and a super reliable cruiser this is most definitely a must see XY.
