Wheels magazine's Car of the Year in 1971! A success on the road and on the race track. And one of the best looking cars ever built in Australia! The mighty VH Valiant R/T Charger. And in factory Hot Mustard, now for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

Chrysler planned to produce the Charger at the rate of 20 per day. This was lifted to 43 per day following the rave reviews from the dealer network and the press. And subsequently to 83 a day which still wasn't enough to meet the demand.

And it's not hard to understand why.

The Charger was an Australian design success story. By shortening the wheelbase by six inches and chopping 13.2 inches from the overall length of the VH sedan, Chrysler engineers had tightened the entire car. The shorter car meant a reduction in weight of 300 lbs with an obvious increase in performance. And with wide sports wheels, the clever use of bright metal, the blunt tail with its inbuilt spoiler and, roofline ribs running down past the rear window all conspired to make the Charger a sales success.

The R/T Charger equipped with the R/T 265 Hemi six was good for 218 BHP, 15 more than the standard 265 and in fact quicker in most conditions than the V8 equipped Charger with the added bonus of better fuel consumption, lower insurance rating, and lower initial purchase price.

FOR SALE is a October 1971 built R/T Charger in Hot Mustard with Tan trim. One of only 638 R/T Chargers built, this stunning R/T Charger has been in the care of the current custodian since 2017. The Charger has been repainted in 2 Pac and the interior has been retrimmed including new door cards, new sound deadener and carpets. The Charger was also rewired and the gauges work perfectly.

The Charger runs a fully rebuilt and balanced matching numbers 265 Hemi 6 cylinder motor, bored 60,000 over with an E49 grind cam, E38/49 spec triple 45mm Italian Webers, factory exhaust manifold with 6 pack exhaust, rebuilt 3 speed BW gearbox and 3.23: 1 Borg Warner LSD. The Charger is also fitted with the 16:1 steering box and adjustable rear spring hangers. The Charger has all new suspension, shocks, brakes including the optional B51 brake booster plus a 2 1/4" exhaust front to back. The whole restoration is documented with photos and a receipt file.

The Charger is riding on genuine W35 alloy rims with Maxxis 215/70R14 all round plus a spare W35 with good tyre and factory tools. There is also a full set of the original R/T steel wheels, the original air cleaner, exhaust manifold and a Holley carby.

Supplied with a full Chrysler Info Base Verification report, this is a super rare find and a great R/T to drive and enjoy. There is no time like the present to ... Hey Charger!
