Genuine HG GTS Monaro factory V8 80837 car, now with a healthy 350 V8 in immaculate condition.

Purchased by the current owner in 2003 and enjoyed as a driver until it was pulled off the road and fully restored in 2010. The Monaro was stripped back to bare metal, any rust of which there wasn’t much, was repaired, all dents removed, prime coat & high filled, left to dry for 4 months and then blocked back, primed & painted in two pack Rally Red. The paint is still as good as the day it was painted. A new Rare Spares rubber kit was used for the assembly, the internal floor was covered with sound deadening Resomat DB3, with new carpet & underlay fitted.

The front and rear bumpers, door handles, tail light frames & the quarter window frames were all re-chromed during the painting of the car. All stainless steel trims were thoroughly cleaned & polished. The complete front of the car was removed and the front firewall & under the car to the first transverse cross member were wire brushed and sandblasted back to bare metal including the K frames. All items were sandblasted prime coat & painted in two pack black.

When the current owner purchased the car in 2003 it was already running a 350 Chev motor which was pretty tired. So a new GM high performance 4 bolt main bare block was purchased, bored & honed (.020”) to suit a balanced Prostroke 383 stroker kit, scat crank & rods, new Dart iron Eagle heads, roller rockers, Wade cam shaft, lifters, electronic distributor, new timing chain & gear, 860 Holley on an Edelbrock performer manifold. The engine has done about 5,000km since it was built in 2008-9.

Gears are changed through a Turbo 350 3 speed auto gearbox, overhauled in 2008 with a rebuilt torque converter and new universal joints fitted to the tail shaft. The gear box, tail shaft, diff and springs were sandblasted prime coated & painted in two pack black. The diff was sandblasted, stripped & rebuilt with a new 3.08 ratio crown wheel & pinion, new bearings on the axles, stud pattern changed to HQ stud pattern, backing plates all sandblasted, primed & painted in two pack black. The brake upgrade has been fully engineered and this paperwork comes with the Monaro. The GTS also comes with receipts for much of the work completed.

The front bucket seats were rebuilt & recovered with the factory Sandalwood vinyl, while the rear seats & door trims are original. A new Rare Spares hood lining was fitted when the car was resprayed in 2010. A set of custom Lambs wool seat covers were tailor made for the two front bucket seats. These will be included in the sale. The GTS has been signed by Bathurst racers - Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes on the glove box lid.

The rear springs were reset, sandblasted, primed and painted in two pack black and Koni adjustable shock absorbers fitted front & rear. The Monaro is riding on Weld Prostar 15” x 7” front with Dunlop SP sport 195/60R15 tyres & 15” x 8” rear with Toyo Proxes4 - 225-50R15 tyres. The spare wheel is also a Weld Prostar. All tyres have very good tread, the centres spigots in the wheels have been machined to suit the diameter of the spigot stubs on front discs & rear axles.

Full NSW registration - GKM-350 expires 5th March 2022. Located Maitland, NSW. Call to arrange an inspection.
