For sale a 1970 XW Falcon GT-HO Phase 1.5 in Diamond White with Black trim. In the current ownership since 1984 and now for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

In May 1969, Ford launched the XW GT, powered by a 351ci Windsor V8 producing 290 bhp and 385 ft/lbs of torque. Upgrades included bigger brakes, revised suspension, a 3.25:1 diff ratio and a massive 36-gallon fuel tank—making it a serious Grand Tourer.

A month later, the GT-HO ("Handling Option") arrived with performance-focused enhancements: 300 bhp from a larger 600cfm carburettor, new camshaft, alloy intake, heavy-duty components, and improved suspension. It debuted at the 1969 Bathurst 500, finishing second despite tyre issues.

Between May 1969 and October 1970, Ford built 2,287 XW GTs and 662 GT-HOs. Around March–April 1970, 110 Phase 1.5 GT-HOs were made, using the new Cleveland 351 engine, still rated at 300 bhp. These cars featured a wide-ratio gearbox, 600cfm Holley carb, and other mild updates—22 were finished in Diamond White.

For sale is a genuine and rare 1970 Ford XW Falcon GT-HO Phase 1.5, finished in Diamond White and built in April 1970 at Ford’s Broadmeadows factory. According to the XW GT-HO Phase 1.5 Register, expertly compiled by GT historian Ross Vasse, this car is one of only three built in this exact specification and is officially recorded as Build Number 59 of the 110 Phase 1.5 GT-HOs ever produced. Delivered new by Bowden Ford in Cheltenham, South Australia, it has been held by the current custodian since 1984.

This matching-numbers example retains its original engine, gearbox, and differential. The car remains in well-maintained condition, having received a freshen-up in the 1980s that included exterior paintwork as well as detailing of the engine bay and boot area. Originally fitted with Dark Saddle interior trim (as noted on the compliance plate), the car was retrimmed in Black early in its life. It still retains the genuine crash pad, original door trims, centre console, and original glass throughout. The, roof lining, and carpets have been replaced.

Riding on original 12 Slot Rims with genuine GT dress rims and centre caps with red walled tyres.

This GT-HO Phase 1.5 is a rare and historically significant vehicle that bridges the gap between the Phase I and the iconic Phase II GT-HO models. With documented provenance, an ACCHS Report, long-term ownership and all matching numbers, this is a standout example suited to collectors, enthusiasts or investors. Whether you’re looking to showcase it at classic car events or add it to a curated collection, this GT-HO offers both pride of ownership and long-term value.
