Stunning 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C3 454 big block in Monza Red for sale from the Northern Beaches, Sydney. In 1953 GM executives accepted a suggestion by Myron Scott, then the Assistant Director of the Chevrolet's Public Relations department, to name the company's new sports car after the corvette, a small maneuverable warship. The first model designed by Harley Earl, a convertible, was introduced in 1953 followed by the second generation in 1963 in both coupe and convertible styles. The Corvette quickly became synonymous with freedom and adventure ultimately becoming the most successful concept car and the most popular sports car in US motoring history. It also very quickly became one of the most powerful sports cars offered for sale in the US. The third generation Corvette, based on the XP-755 Mako Shark show car designed by Larry Shinoda as a concept for future Corvettes (see photo at end of gallery photos), was introduced for the 1968 model year and was in production until 1982. C3 coupes were the first to use T-top removable roof panels and featured extroverted styling, as well as a fresh face for big block fans: the 454. Dubbed the LS5, the 454 was a torque monster thanks to its longer stroke, producing 390 BHP and 500 lb-ft of torque with a 10.25:1 compression ratio and serving as the top-tier stump-puller for that generation of car. For sale from the Northern Beaches, Sydney is this absolutely stunning Monza Red with factory Black leather trim C3 Corvette Stingray running the matching numbers 454 Big Block and T-400 Automatic gearbox. A personal import from the USA 12 years ago with import paperwork, this Corvette is one of only 4,500 454 390 Hp Corvette's made in 1970 and one of the last of the big horsepower Corvettes. The current mechanic owner has fully serviced the car, rebuilt the brakes with new discs, calipers, hoses, master cylinder and pads, fitted new shock absorbers, a new exhaust system and replaced all the door and targa top rubbers. He has also replaced the chrome bumpers, rocker covers and serviced the vacuum system. The Monza Red paint is in faultless condition having been restored in the USA prior to importation. The interior is all original in exceptional condition and all instrumentation works perfectly as does the factory fitted Air-conditioning, power windows and power steering. The Corvette is also equipped with removeable rear window and comes with the Targa top covers and straps and rear window glass storage compartment and is showing 45,894 Miles on the clock. The Vette is riding on original 8x15" Rally rims with 245x60x15 Galaxy radial tyres. On full NSW registration until January, 2023. VT 454 number plates included for NSW buyers.
