Offered for sale is an exceptional 1968 SS Camaro, a genuine factory 396 big-block car. Now for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

The 396 big block was introduced by GM at the height of the late-1960s muscle car wars, renowned for its immense torque and dominant street presence. This example was professionally restored in 2011 by Andy’s Restorations and presents to a very high standard.

Built in March 1968 this factory 396 equipped SS rolled off the production line in Butternut Yellow at the Van Nuys (Los Angeles) California GM plant, The vehicle was imported to Australia in 1969 and converted to right-hand drive in the early 1970s. It would have been a rare and special import at the time and remains a special car today.

Freshened up by CV Performance 3 years ago, the date-code correct big block has shown over 400hp at the rear wheels. It is paired with a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, featuring a TCI 3500-rpm stall converter and performance shift kit. Power is transferred through the original factory 12-bolt differential equipped with 33-spline axles, 3.9:1 final drive ratio and Truetrac centre, while braking performance is enhanced with 4-piston Corvette front disc brakes.

Inside, the Camaro retains its desirable factory tick-toc-tach dash and centre console gauges. The interior is currently fitted with professionally retrimmed black Recaro seats with period houndstooth inserts, with the original factory seats included in the sale. Modern convenience has been subtly added with a RetroSound audio system and Pioneer 6x9 speakers.  The exterior is finished with a 2-inch reverse cowl bonnet with correct SS hood vents.

Take a moment to appreciate the stance of the car, set at a purposeful street height and complemented by CalTrac traction bars, giving it a cool, planted presence while remaining highly streetable.

Its riding on 15" widened Chrome Rallye Wheels with 245/60R15 tyres and fully registered in NSW until 15/06/2026.

Located in our Sydney Showroom for your inspection. (Ref. 6762)
