1963 Chrysler Valiant AP5 - Resto Mod
While Chrysler had been assembling cars locally since 1951, the AP5 was the first Valiant to be manufactured in Australia. Based on the Plymouth Valiant, the AP5 ‘AP’ (For ‘Australian Production’) was offered as a Regal sedan and station wagon and was powered by Chrysler’s 225ci (3.7-litre) slant six married to either a three-speed manual gearbox or Chrysler’s three-speed ‘Torqueflite’ automatic transmission.
And the AP5 was a hit, with Chrysler Australia selling 50,000 AP5s in a little under two years before it was replaced by the AP6.
For sale is a fully rebuilt restomod example completed in 2017 featuring faux patina paint with Matte 2k clear over. Running the original matching numbers Slant 225 6 cylinder rebuilt in 2017 with twin 2" SU carburettors, ceramic coated extractors, Offenhauser tappet cover, new engine mounts, electronic ignition, recored radiator, new hoses, new wiring harness with modern relays and fuse box, remote central locking and alarm plus LED headlights.
On the inside the AP5 has been fitted with new custom trim, new door cards, hood lining, carpets with AP6 heater and controls, heated front seats with hidden controls in the ashtray, custom dash cluster with new VDO gauges and GPS Speedo, custom stereo with sound proofing throughout, an interior venetian blind and new windshield.
The car also features new suspension, lowered with heavy duty rear springs, front sway bar and all urethane bushings and 15" BCI Moon rims with new tyres. The restoration also included a rebuild to the steering box, new wheel bearings, new fuel tank and lines, electric fuel pump, new brakes with VC discs up front, VH master cylinder and VH44J remote booster and new brake lines and flexible hoses.
The Push Button Torqueflite auto has been rebuilt as has the 2.92 ratio diff.
Since the restoration was completed in 2017, the AP5 has covered approximately 9,000 Klms with some great cruises up and down the East Coast of NSW. Originally sold in 1963 through Harden & Johnston Ltd, Flinders Street, Sydney this AP5 is now a part of our Aussie car culture and is a super reliable well sorted head turner ready to cruise into the Aussie summer in 60's style.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
