Will's (P)ride
The third owner of this 1975 XB Falcon GS Coupe, Will tell us that it is finished in the same colour as the 1975 Allan Moffat Bathurst race car - paint code - Y422 - Thorn Red Moffat Racing.
According to Will, "The car is understood to have been a special order
for City Ford, Moffat's major sponsor 1975, and were walked down the factory line in the weeks leading up to the Bathurst campaign for use as promotional vehicles at the track. I have the original sales receipt and registration papers for the car, which has never been unregistered in its 31 years to date.
The cars specifications are similar to that of the John Goss Special, which were produced around the same time, with 302C, 3 spd auto and GS rallye pack dash and suspension. The car is mostly original, with the exception of the diff, which has been upgraded to an XC BorgWarner with disc brakes. It also originally had gold painted 12-slot cheese cutters which came with the car.
I have been tracing the cars history for some years now, and have come across two others still in existence. Most sources for information have been from getting the car seen online.
This is a shot of the five cars on the transporter. Notice the skinny
twelve slotters which give them away as non-race ready. The pic comes from autopic.com.au
I enjoy checking the great rides on the AMCS site and dreaming of increasing the collection.
Cheers,
Will"
