Stewart's (P)ride

From Ireland Stewart sends us photos of his XP Hardtop - a Futura coupe that started out life in Australia as a white car with blue interior, a Super Pusuit engine and a 3 on the tree.

According to Stewart, "In the 1990's it was subjected to a nut and bolt rebuild in Queensland. Some of the work included 221cid engine with a mid cam Celica 5 speed complete body respray in British Racing Green
A complete retrim with new front seats. Hopefully you can see from the photos that it is a transformed car.

It was bought by a British collector on holidays in Sydney during 2004 and was shipped to the UK where it sat in storage for 18 months before he decided to sell it.

I saw it advertised, and couldn't let it pass me by. When I first looked at it, it still had its NSW plates on it, what a sight! After some negotiation I became the proud owner of a little piece of Aussie history.

According to the UK Ford register its the only one they are aware of - most of their members have later X series cars and coupes. And back here in Ireland it is the only one, as when I took it to be registered they had to create a new category under Ford.

It gets lots of looks when I use it, and the lovely growl from the twin system gives the lads in their Honda Civics something decent to listen to!"
